Calton (Cal) Bates beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all went to be with our Lord on January 12, 2015 with his wife and son at his side.

Cal was born on February 16, 1947 in Haskell, Texas. His family later moved to Richmond, Texas and built their home in the Orchard, Texas area where Cal was raised. He attended Wharton County Junior College before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1967. He was a licensed Journeyman Electrician working for Brown and Root, Shell Research, European Gas Turbines and OakBend Medical Center before retiring to enjoy fishing, gardening and leisure rides on his Harley motorcycle.

Cal is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Bates, mother, Ruby Dutton, step-father, Charles Dutton, grandparents, Jack and Viola Franklin, and Daisey and John Bates, father-in-law, Joe Pawlak, brothers-in-law, Kenneth Pawlak and James Pawlak.

Cal is survived by his wife, Diane Bates, son, Craig Bates and Shauna, grandsons, Caden Bates and Chase Bates, sister, Carlene Minks, mother-in-law, Flora Pawlak, brother-in-law, Ben Pawlak and Ginger, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Collin Pawlak, Cuyler Pawlak, Cameron Pawlak, cousins, Rodney Pavlock, David Pavlock and Randy Pavlock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Calton's grandsons, Caden Bates and Chase Bates.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 15, 2015 with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

The funeral service will be officiated by Father William D. Bartniski on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Calton's name to Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg.
