Leon  Chernosky
Leon Chernosky, 90, of Sugar Land, passed away March 31, 2015, at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Sugar Land.

He was born in Sugar Land, Texas on February 27, 1925, to
parents, Will and Clara (Granoski) Chernosky. He married Helen Maureen Lewis on September 3, 1949.

Leon proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded the EAME Campaign Medal with four bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and received an honorable discharge with the rank of Technician 5th Grade. He was a current member of V.F.W. Post #4010. As a heavy equipment operator, he retired from the County of Fort Bend on June 30, 1990 with over 40 years of employment.

Leon is survived by his daughter, Dina Chernosky of Sugar Land, granddaughter, Jennifer Crown (Jeff), great-grandchildren, Alyssa Young and Tyler Crown, and great-great granddaughter, Mackenziee Young, all of Richmond. He is also survived by brothers, August and Tony Chernosky (Mary Ella), sisters, Mary Smith, Julie Willis, of Sugar Land and Annie Bliss (Art) of Richmond. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Leon is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years and daughter, Debra Young. Also preceding him in death are brothers Joe Chernosky of Richmond, Albert, Frankie, and James Chernosky and sister, Carrie Macek, all of Sugar Land.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2015 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Interment with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
