Gerald passed away at the age of 52, surrounded by his loving family, after a heroic battle with cancer. Gerald was born January 19, 1963 to John E. and Janice Svatek Toman.

Gerald was employed with East Bernard ISD, for the last 8 years, where he found his second home.

Gerald is survived by his Mother Janice Toman of Rosenberg; Sister Cindy Heiman and husband Dennis, of Orchard; Sister Jackie Mercer and husband (and best-friend) Bully, of Rosenberg; Sister Nancy McCain and husband Perry, of Rosenberg; Sister Becky Donham and husband Paul, of Richmond; Brother B.J. Toman and wife Dawn, of Rosenberg; and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces, Great-Nephews, cousins, loved ones, and a very special Aunt Bern.

Pallbearers are Charlie Toman, Andrew Labay, Billy Svatek, Bobby Jones, Patrick Stransky, Joe Stransky II, James Kresta, and Emmett Tugwell.

Honorary Pallbearers are Keene Mercer, Seth Mercer-Ross, Jaxson Hensley, Jacob McCain, Avery McCain, Corbin Toman, Jordan Gallia and Dirk Browning.

He is preceded in death by his Father, John E. Toman, of Rosenberg; Grandparents, John and Angeline Svatek, of Needville, and Steve and Norma Toman, of Sealy.

Gerald enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and all-around outdoorsmen. He enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits of his labor, and was always willing to share. He was a skilled carpenter and somewhat of a modern-day MacGyver; there was nothing he couldn't create, build or repair. His favorite days were those spent with his family, cooking in the backyard, and playing practical jokes. He remained devoted and committed to both his immediate family and his East Bernard ISD family throughout his illness…he never gave up.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Bernard Athletic Department. Tributes and words of condolences may be left for the family at www.davisgreenlawnfh.com.
