Helen Virginia was born February 22, 1933 to Roy and Ann Yarbrough in McKinney. She grew up in Waco from the age of 9, where she graduated from Waco High School in 1951 and then attended Mr. and Mrs. Abbey's Business School. She married Albert James Lassetter on August 8, 1951 and they moved to McGregor in 1954 where they were blessed with three children: Pamela Kay, Larry Keith and Mark Stephen Lassetter. In 1972 Helen moved to Houston, where she met and married Harold Hopmann, with daughter Jamie Ann, in 1974. Together they were blessed with 40 years of love and happiness. Helen and Harold lived in Rosenberg until 2008, then moved to Waco to retire.
She was a spitfire with a vibrant, magnetic soul that touched many in her time here on earth. Her thoughtfulness was always shown through her beautifully written words and she had a clever quip for every circumstance of life. There was never a baby she did not hold, a lady she did not befriend or a handsome, young gentleman she did not coquet. Her cherished role as "Memaw" yo her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought abounding joy in her later years, for which she will always be remembered.
Celebrating her life and mourning her passing are her doting husband, Harold Hopmann; 3 children, Pamela Kay, Larry Keith and wife Oleta, Mark Stephen; 7 grandchildren, James, Taylor and wife Ramona, Jordan and husband JD, Shalom, Faith, Cody, Eric; and 7 great grandchildren, Baylee, Gunnar, Colton, Jude, Aaron, Cruz and Haven. She is predeceased by daughter, Jamie Ann Hopmann Hunlock.
The family appreciates the wonderful care, professionalism and compassion shown by Providence Hospice Care. Special thanks to caregivers, Linda, Chrystal, Margie and a host of others, who helped us through the final days.
