Betty Jean Pilkenton, a longtime resident of Needville, TX passed away on October 7th, 2015 after a chronic illness.
Born December 16, 1928 in Brazito, MO, to Florence Lindthart and Forrest Mueller, Betty is preceded in death by her precious daughter Mary Elizabeth "Missy" Barker, her loving husband of 27 years, Eugene Pilkenton, her brothers Ewing Mueller and Dale Mueller. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Vicki Kinsel and husband Gus Shelton, daughter Nancy Kinsel and husband Doug Uhlig and daughter Patty Rosicato and husband Bill Rosicato, her son William "Scooter" Kinsel and his wife Bonnie and her step- children Mike Pilkenton and Brenda Brantner Pilkenton. She was the grandmother of Tami Griess, Amy Jaster, John, Joe and Danielle D'Ailleboust, Billy Kinsel, Rebecca Kinsel and step grandchildren Bryan Wentworth and Melanie Jenkins and two great grandchildren Gabrielle Jaster and Cooper Griess and one step grandchild Holly Wentworth.
Betty had several careers in her life. She was a telephone operator, owner of two daycare centers and owner of a Bar-B-Que restaurant, a true entrepreneur. She started school at 50 to become a RN and spent many years working at several hospitals as a psychiatric nurse finally retiring at 73. Betty cared for her husband during his lengthy battle with cancer. She enjoyed gardening, family gatherings and taking care of her animals. She loved her bluebonnets and waiting for the bluebirds to arrive.
The service will be held at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Chapel 3900 BF Terry Blvd, Rosenberg, TX 77471 (281-341-8800). The family will be accepting visitors for viewing at 12 noon with service and graveside ceremony to begin at 2:00 Monday October 12th, 2015.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made Citizens for Animal Protection FCAP, (Feral cat assistance program) and the Accredited Hospices of America.
