Peter Douglas Cantu of Rosenberg, Texas went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2015 at the age of 49. He was born on November 29, 1965 in Richmond, Texas to Peter and Olga (Perez) Cantu. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Rosenberg.

His hobbies included playing golf, traveling, hunting in South Texas, participating in the Porsche Car Club, spending time at his property in Kendleton, and supporting his nieces and nephews in their endeavors.

Peter had a successful career in the Exposition/Exhibitions industry. He started fresh out of High School as a Draftsman designing layouts for trade show exhibits moving on to become a leading Events Coordinator at the George R. Brown Convention Center and ultimately, an Exhibitions Sales Manager for Pennwell – Oil and Gas division. This "from the floor up" career expertise was instrumental in Peter having an exceptional reputation in the industry. His work provided him with the opportunity to meet many luminaries including two US presidents, internationally renowned dignitaries, celebrities in the entertainment industry, and famous sports figures as well as the chance to travel throughout the world.

Equally important, he made countless friendships during his life many of which going back as far as his childhood. The importance he placed on maintaining these friendships, whether life-long or recent, was a true testament of just how much he cared. This loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend will truly be missed.

Peter is preceded in death by his father, Peter Saenz Cantu.

Survivors include his mother, Olga Perez Cantu; siblings, Eddie Cantu and wife, Monika, Elsa Cortez and Bobby Cortez, Laura Smith and husband, Gregory, and Jimmy Cantu and wife, Ann; nieces and nephews, Kristie, Nikki, and Bobby Cortez III, James (Billy), Claudia, and Christopher Cantu, Austin and Alexander Smith and Isabella Cantu; his beloved dogs, Jack and JJ Cantu; along with extended family and a host of friends and colleagues.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2015 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.


The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Rosenberg, Texas with Father Lee Flores officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, Texas.

Pallbearers will include James Cantu, Christopher Cantu, Bobby Cortez III, Austin Smith, Sammy Davila, Mario Gonzales, Mack Almendarez, and Jeff Sellers. Alexander Smith, Lee Cox, Joseph Rangel, Roger Lawson, Charles Emmons, Stephen Kolkmeier, and Lance Perryman will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made in Peter's name to the Fort Bend Animal Shelter.
