Hugo F. Ley Jr., 89, passed away, Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in Needville. He was born August 15, 1926 in Houston to Hugo and Selma Ley. Hugo owned and operated City Drug Store in Needville for 58 years. Hugo was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville. He was also a member of the Texas Pharmacy Association, life member of the University of Texas Ex-Student's Association, he was past President of the Needville Chamber of Commerce, he was Needville Youth Fair past President, Wharton County Junior College Board of Trustees member for 25 years and was veteran in the United States Air Force. Hugo was also a member of the Rosenberg Masonic Lodge #881.

Survivors include his sons, Wayne Ley and wife Becky, Phillip Ley and wife Linda, grandchildren, Nolan Ley, Audrey Ley Scheck and husband Matt, Max Ley, Keaton Ley, Kristen Ley, Jennifer Ley Kirschten and husband Michael, and Michelle Ley, great grandchildren, Lukas Kirschten and Grayson Kirschten. Hugo was preceded in death by his wife Helen A. Schumacher Ley, his parents Hugo F. Ley, Sr. and Selma Engels Ley and sister Mildred Ley Hardwicke.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with Pastor Tom Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends starting at 8:30 A.M. Friday until service time.


For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Hugo's name to the Needville Youth Fair Scholarship Fund.
