Rose  Cervenka
Rose Cervenka was born in Nada, Texas, on March 24, 1924. She was the eighth of twelve children born to Frank Brenk and Mary Duyka Brenk. On May 17, 1949, she married Edward Cervenka in Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton, Texas. In November of 1950, she and Edward moved from El Campo to Rosenberg. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. During the centennial year of the church in 2011, Rose was one of the 100 most senior members of the parish.

Rose died on November 3, 2015, in Rosenberg. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward (February 6, 1991) and her son Mark Wayne (August 11, 2006). Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Frances Baca, Agnes Socha, Marie Boyd, Josephine Pavlovsky, and Cecilia Kucera; and her brothers, Frank Brenk, Anthony Brenk, Fred Brenk, Theodore Brenk, and Benjamin Brenk; and many extended family members.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Stavinoha and husband Leroy of Needville and her son, Jay Cervenka and wife Mary K. of Wharton; grandchildren, Lee and Cynthia Stavinoha of Fairchilds, Kyle and Melissa Stavinoha of Rosenberg, Elizabeth and Cody Franklin of Richmond, Luke and Melissa Stavinoha of Richmond, David and Briana Cervenka of Angleton, and Anne McCalla of Wharton; great-grandchildren, Lane Edward and Courtney Elaine Stavinoha; Gracie Rose and Jesse Joseph Stavinoha; Daphne Rose and Sawyer Lee Franklin; Lawson Anthony Stavinoha; and Lillian Rose, David Allan, Jr. and Cory Cervenka. She is also survived by her brother, Victor Brenk and wife Vlasta of Wharton; devoted family friend, Irene Becerra-Morales of Rosenberg; sister-in-law, Ann Wuthrich of Wharton; brother-in-law, Gilbert Cervenka of Waldron, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Lee Wuthrich and husband Arnold of Henrietta, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose was an avid reader who also enjoyed growing flowers and plants and cooking and baking for family and friends.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to service time. Pallbearers are Lee Stavinoha, Kyle Stavinoha, Luke Stavinoha, Cody Franklin, Tom Crayton, and Carl Hammermiller.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Maxine Hunter and the staff at Cambridge Square Assisted Living for the compassionate care given to our loved one during her time there. Gratitude is also extended to Gentiva hospice, especially Lina and Jackie, who helped make Rose's final months as comfortable as possible.

Memorial donations may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic School or the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Holy Rosary Church.
