Stephen Paul Stagoski, 59, of Sugar Land, TX passed away on November 22, 2015, after fiercely fighting cancer. He was born on June 17, 1956 in Evansville, IL, and grew up in Memphis, TN.

As a young man, he was an accomplished athlete in football, swimming and track, a respected camp counselor, and had achieved the high honor of being designated an Eagle Scout.

Upon graduating from the University of Memphis in 1979, with a BS in Geology, he embarked on a long, illustrious and highly respected 30 year career as a Professional Geoscientist. He enjoyed numerous industry successes in on-shore and off-shore, domestic and international arenas. He was widely recognized for his communication skills and service as a mentor to numerous junior professionals.

Even more important to him than his professional career were his wife and family. Stephen and Vivien met and married in May 1981, both knowing they had met the partner that would fulfill their lives forever. Stephen always said his tastes were simple, he liked the best, and Vivien was Spun-Gold.

Stephen and Vivien were blessed with three wonderful children, Erin, and twins, Paul and Amanda. They devoted their lives to the care and well-being of these children and Stephen thoroughly enjoyed the wide array of activities including soft-ball tournaments, surfing and skating events, and horse shows.

Stephen was adored as 'Papa' by his beautiful granddaughters, Izabella, Kayla, Langston and Zoey, and he always referred to them affectionately as 'Papa's Angels'.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 34 years, Vivien, daughters, Erin Long (Justin) and Amanda Travitzky (Christiano), and son, Paul Ellis Stagoski. He is also survived by his parents, Robert Stagoski and Suzanne Clark, sister, Laura Gurley, and brothers, Alex, Andrew and Peter Stagoski, and their extended families, all in the Memphis area. He is also fondly remembered by Aunt Mary Elizabeth Kringel, Uncle Leonard and Aunt Judy Stagoski, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom have extended their love and support during this past year.

A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 beginning at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd., in Rosenberg, TX 77471.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Stephen's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN or to the Fort Bend County Animal Shelter.
