Ethan Stade Russell, 21 died unexpectedly Saturday, December 19, 2015 at his home in East Bernard. He was very loved by his family and a large circle of friends. Being an only child, he thought of his cousins as brothers and sisters. Cousins include Austin and Walker Russell, Adelina and Bobbi Isabella Hernandez, Don and Tiffany (Stade) Collins, Tanner Stade, Hash and Tara (Stade) Chintapalli. Ethan was born June 13, 1994, in The Woodlands to Glenn Paul and Katherine Jane (Stade) Russell. Ethan was a 2013 graduate of East Bernard High School, before attending Wharton County Junior College. His goal was to go into environmental science. For the last two years he worked as a rice farmer for G-5 Farms, owned by Daniel and Timothy Gertson. Ethan leaves behind his parents and his grandmother, Carolyn Marie Russell. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bobby Evans Russell and LeRoy W. Stade and Bernice (Koym) Stade. Ethan loved East Bernard and was a member of 2012 East Bernard High School State Championship Football Team. He qualified for state competition in golf and in tractor mechanics. Ethan's hobbies included music, playing his guitar and hunting, particularly hunting on his family's farm. He bought his own boat and enjoyed fishing the Colorado River with his friends. He loved snow skiing, sandy beaches, traveling, family gatherings, and his newly formed Reunion Group Bible Study. Ethan had a strong desire to pay it forward helping others both in the past and looking to the future. In the short term he had trained in order to serve others during a Tres Dias weekend. In the long term, upon graduation from college he envisioned using his knowledge in environmental science to work with missionaries in Africa helping others. To quote a classmate, "He protected me from bullies, encouraged me to keep trying and not to worry about what other people think". A former teacher wrote, "Ethan has a sterling character, Christian values and a great heart with the sweetest spirit". For now, we say goodbye to the most handsome smile ever!
