Zena Babashka Zapolski
  
Zena Babashka Zapolski passed away on January 3, 2016 in Richmond, Texas at the age of 102. She was born on September 14, 1913 in Melrose Park, Illinois to Paul and Anna Babashka. Zena's past hobbies included crocheting, gardening, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed baking for her family and trying new recipes.

Zena is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Zapolski, daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Al Conforti; and great granddaughter, Erin Attel. She is also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Carl Montino; and her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Jenni Babashka.

Zena is survived by her son, Joseph Zapolski and wife, Mary Jo; daughter, Jeannette Ries and husband, Donald; her eight grandchildren: Michael Zapolski (Stacy), Tim Zapolski (Stephanie), Ann Zapolski, Andrea Ries Dailey (JW), Monica Ries Attel (Ed), Daniel Ries, James Ries (Courtney) and Susan Ries Bakus (Matt); ten great grandchildren: Haley, Luke and Noah Zapolski, Alexis Banks, Ethan and Caleb Dailey, Shaun Attel, Ashley and Katherine Ries, and Madelyn Bakus; niece, Marie Moffitt; nephews, Paul Montino, Frank Montino and Fred Babashka.


Visitation will be held begin at 9:30 a.m. with a Rosary at 10:15 a.m. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. All services will take place on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 507 South 4th Street in Richmond, Texas. Later in the year, the family will gather for interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Westchester, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, Texas, the Rosenberg Texana Learning Center, 4910 Airport Avenue, Rosenberg, Texas 77471 or to the Make A Wish Foundation of North Texas, 6655 Deseo, Irving, Texas 75039.
