George W. Elliott III passed in peace to heaven on February 23, 2016 at the age of 85. George will be fondly remembered by his friends and family as a loving father and husband, chronic entertainer, brilliant salesman, lover of history, proud patriot, US Army veteran and a fan of all things John Wayne.

Survived by his wife of 42 years Ann Marie Elliott, sister Mary Ann Fendley, children George W. Elliott IV, Lee Elliott Welser, Daniel Elliott, Joseph Elliott and wife Ramona Elliott, grandchildren, Tara Morrill, Callan Morrill, John Sumner Morrill, Faith Elliott, Aliza Elliott and Luke Elliott.

George was born January 3, 1931 to George W. Elliott Jr and Fredonia McKinney Elliott. Growing up in Midland Odessa, George, aka "Skip", fell in love with westerns and the military at an early age. A graduate of Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, Texas, he would go on to serve in the US Army during the Korean War holding a rank of 1st Lieutenant. Continuing his education at The University of Texas in Austin, he completed his Bachelors of Fine Arts in 1953 and pursued a successful career in Broadcast TV and Radio during the 50's and 60's. In the 1970's, he relocated to Houston, Texas and began his career in insurance as an independent agent where he remained until he retired over 30 years later. George lived to make others smile. He enjoyed serving in the local church, watching old war movies, cheering on Bill O'Reilly each evening, and most of all, spending time with his wife.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27th at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel ( located at 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd, Rosenberg, TX 77471 which is at the intersection of HWY 59 and FM 2218. Visitation with family and viewing will begin at 9am, funeral service at 10am followed by the burial also located on the property.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial offering in George's name may be made to the AIDS Foundation Houston ( in honor of his son John Michael Elliott who passed in 1994 from HIV and to Catalyst Teen Center (, founded by his son Joseph, serving at risk teens and young adults in Austin, Texas.
