Johnnie Vavrecka, 87, of Needville, passed away on March 18, 2016 at his residence. He was born on August 20, 1928 in El Maton, Texas to Frank and Emma Vavrecka. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. Johnnie was the owner and operator of Rose-Rich Gulf Service Station and Johnnie and Frank's Tire Service. This loving father, grandfather, brother and friend will be missed.


In addition to his parents, Johnnie is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille (Haas) Vavrecka; siblings, Gus Vavrecka, Henry Vavrecka and Alice Weakley; and granddaughter, Tammy Vavrecka.


Survivors include his children, Kathy Vavrecka (L.D. Heimann), Robert Vavrecka (Linda), Frank Vavrecka (Jill), Helen Wilson (Dennis) and Susan Dierks (Robert); siblings, Lillian Turk, Charlie Vavrecka (Virginia), Betty Kramer, and Mary Brau; grandchildren, Kelly Polasek, Lynn Bettis (Kiki), Jessica Vavrecka, Jeremy Vavrecka (Anissa), John Vavrecka (Christina), Tracie Scott (Michael), Vanessa Vavrecka (Jason Arias), Brandi Mueck (Nathan), Aaron Vavrecka (Amanda), Jonathan Dierks (Cassie), Jim Wilson, Tearra Dierks (Dylan Williford), Zackary Dierks, and Keyshawn Vavrecka; 22 great grandchildren; special cousin, Willie Bohuslav; two dogs, "Joey" and "Bruiser"; along with extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will include Jim Wilson, Jonathan Dierks, Jeremy Vavrecka, John Vavrecka, Cody Haas, Harvey "Skip" Kramer, Danny Bezecny and Michael Haas.

Honorary pallbearers will include Zackary Dierks and all of Johnnie's great grandsons.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with burial following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
