Algernon Sidney Badger, 90, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at his home in East Bernard. He was a patient, generous, and loving family man, and a hero to his family and friends.

Born September 19, 1925 in Houston to Harry Sprague Badger and Agnes Gertrude Thielepape Badger, Algernon graduated valedictorian from Milby High School. World War II interrupted his college education, but after serving in the Navy, he completed his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering at Rice University. A research scientist, Algernon traveled around the world representing American oil exploration technology. He is credited with several patents and served in several professional organizations.

He married Mary Louise Lewis October 8, 1949. The family moved to East Bernard in 1978 where they established Tylwyth Pony Farm. After Mary Lou's death in 2002 he reconnected with a friend from Rice and at the age of 79 wed Margaret Ann Rainey.

Survivors include his 3 children, Elizabeth Anne Badger and husband Lansing Pugh, John Algernon Badger, Margaret Agnes Blackert and husband James, and 6 grandchildren, Logan, Alex and David Pugh, Katharine, Victoria and Elizabeth Blackert. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Mary Louise Lewis Badger, second wife, Margaret Crossman Rainey Badger, brother, Harry Sprague Badger Jr. and daughter, Susan Elaine Chester.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in East Bernard with Rev. Alex Lupo officiating. Burial will be Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at South Park Cemetery in Pearland. Visitation will be Friday, May 6, 2016 from 4-8 P.M. in the Stateroom at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the FUMC of East Bernard, or the charity of their choice.
