Sophie Rose Stasney, 90, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 in Needville. She was born August 30, 1925 in Wallis,
to Frank Gerhardt Olsovsky and Sophie Emily Jasek Olsovsky. Her entire life revolved around her faith, which was reflected in her devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was an active life-long member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society. She devoted many years caring for the church linens and even sewed many church vestments and altar linens. She was an avid quilter, baker and gardener. Her radiant smile and beautiful heart will be missed by all.

Survivors include 10 children; Patricia Hughes, Frank Stasney and wife Nancy, Kenneth Stasney and wife Janet, Bobby Stasney and wife Jeanette, Ronnie Stasney and wife Nancy, George Stasney and wife Debra, Shirley Sykora and husband Larry, Kathleen Howard and husband John David, Lynette Kovarcik and husband John and Doug Stasney, sister, Georgia Matusek, brothers, John Olsovsky and wife Polly and Ben Olsovsky and wife Shirley, sister-in-laws, Elaine and Rosie Olsovsky, brother-in-law, George Stasney, 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 67 years, Edwin Lee Stasney, son-in-law, Donny Hughes, sister, Agnes Olsovsky, brothers, Frank and Charlie Olsovsky and brother-in-law, Joe Matusek.

A Funeral Mass will be said Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Father Marty Pham will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, August 2, 2016 from 5-8 P.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M.
