Allen L. Newell, 69, of Needville, passed away on October 1, 2016. He was born in Sugar Land, Texas on August 16, 1947. Allen honorably served our country in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970 in Vietnam. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. His hobbies included traveling with his wife, fishing, hunting, watching game shows on TV, and playing poker. This loving husband, father, Paw-Paw, brother and friend will truly be missed.

Allen is preceded in death by his father, Lester Newell; his mother, Ruby Rosenbaum Newell Bowman; and his step-father D.R. Bowman.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Cynthia Horak Newell; sons, Jeff Newell and wife, Amy, and Kyle Newell; brothers, George Newell and wife, Leanna, James Bowman and wife, Darlene, and Leonard Bowman and wife, Elaine; grandchildren, Skyler and Connor Newell; mother-in-law, Ethel Horak; sisters-in-law, Vicki Fuchs and husband, Bobby, and Terry McGuire and husband, Randal; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and his three fur-babies.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.

For those wishing, memorial donations may be made to
The National Alzheimer's Association.

Pallbearers will include Bryan and Patrick Fuchs, Michael McGuire, Garrett Newell, Art Jan and Donald Ernest. Honorary pallbearers will include Katie McGuire, Staci Fuchs and Ronnie Eben.
