Funeral services for Ascension Delgado Martinez, 93, of Richmond, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2010 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at San Gabriel Cemetery in Richmond.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2010 in the State Room of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
Ascension, known as "Chona" by her friends and family, was born June 1, 1916 in La Lajita, Mexico to Pedro Delgado and Cleotilde Neri Delgado. Ascension was a well known seamstress for many years. She passed away February 17, 2010 in Richmond.
Ascension is preceded in death by her husband, Esteban Martinez; her parents, Pedro and Cleotilde Delgado; her sister, Trina Martinez; and her daughter, Herminia Cardona.
She is survived by her children, Aurora Amason, Richard Martinez and wife, Imelda, Margaret Hedden and husband, Richard and Irene Rodriguez and husband, Fidel; sisters, Irene Ortega and Lydia Samaniego; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will include Andrew Rodriguez, Gilbert Palmarez, Gary Palmarez, Patricio Cardona, Jr., Nicholas Cardona and Richard Cortez.
