A funeral mass for Ruby L. Martinez, 92, of Rosenberg, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Rosenberg with Father Lee Flores officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a wake service being held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 5, 2010 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg.
Lovingly known as mama, "cuquita", Grandma Ruby, Granny, and "Welita", Ruby was born October 10, 1917 in Richmond to Trinidad Martinez and Josephina Loza Martinez. She passed away March 3, 2010 in Richmond.
Ruby loved life, celebrations and everyone she met. She was a positive person who never met a stranger. She was the back bone of the family who was strong and encouraged each family member to be tough, strong and hard working. She was always happy and loved music, especially mariachi music, dancing and red roses.
Ruby's pride and joy were her grand, great and great great grandchildren.
In Heaven, she reunited with her family who preceded her in death including her parents, Trinidad and Josephina Martinez; brothers, Romolo Perez and Trinidad and Felix Martinez; sons, Alfred and Fred Nombrano, Jr.; and daughter, Emilia Garza.
Left here on earth to carry on her legacy are survivors, her brothers, Jose, Alfred and Amado Martinez and wife, Viviana; her sons, Benny Nombrano and wife, Gloria, Manuel Garza and wife, Mary; her daughter, Linda Hernandez and husband, Antonio; and her daughter-in-law, Gloria T. Nombrano; her grandchildren, Benny and James Nombrano, Glenda N. Torres and husband, Hector, Linda and Helen Nombrano, Lorena Ortega and husband, Roland, Manuel Osuna, Joseph Osuna and wife, Marie, Anthony Hernandez and wife, Marcie, Mary Gaurdiola and husband, Pete, Manuel Garza and wife, Mayra, Amy Alameda and husband, Steve, Anne Gonzales and husband, Adam; 15 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will include her grandsons, James Nombrano, Manuel Garza II, Joseph Osuna, Manuel Osuna, Anthony Hernandez and friend, Manuel Tenerio. Honorary pallbearers will include her oldest great grandsons, Randy Torres, Anthony Osuna, Jose Osuna, Joseph Osuna, Noah Osuna and grandsons, Benny Nombrano, Jr. and Tony Gutierrez.
