A memorial service for Alice C. Lewellin, 81, of Sugar Land will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 19, 2010, at St. John's United Methodist Church in Richmond, Texas with Rev. David Luckert officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1680 1st Street, Arcadia, Louisiana.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Williamson Cemetery in Sailes, Louisiana.

Alice was born June 28, 1929 in Sailes, Louisiana to Gus and Malita Clementine (Norman) Cole. She graduated from Louisiana Tech with honors, having earned her B.B.A. She loved the outdoors, was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed fishing in Colorado. Alice traveled the United States extensively, having visited each of the 50 states. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Richmond and was very active in many church functions. In past years, Alice was a volunteer at Sharpstown Hospital. She was an enthusiastic optimist as she supported her Houston sports teams. Alice was an inspiration to all who knew her. She went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2010 at her home in Sugar Land, Texas surrounded by her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Finis Reed Lewellin and parents, Gus and Malita Clementine Cole.

Alice is survived by her children, Dianna Austin and husband, Don of Denver, Colorado, Jeffrey Cole Lewellin and wife, Kathy of Austin, and Margaret Lewellin Philen and husband, Chester of Houston, Texas; sisters, Era Peters of Brookhaven, Mississippi and Dorothy Baker and husband, Louis of Benton, Louisiana; grandchildren, Don Austin, Jr., Stephen Austin, Ray Philen and Grace Philen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

For those wishing, donations may be made in Alice's name to the St. John's United Methodist Church Building Fund, 400 Jackson, Richmond, Texas 77469.
