Fay Genevieve Arnspiger Aymond, age 92, a Richmond, Texas resident since June 1981, died July 5, 2010. She was born May 9, 1918, in Sherman, Texas, to Varney Clyde Arnspiger and Fay Geraldine King. After meeting her truelove at her best friend's wedding in 1938, she and Ensign John Paul Aymond, USN, were married July 11, 1940, in Long Beach, California at the onset of World War II.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, V. C. Arnspiger, Jr. She is survived by brother Samuel David Arnspiger of Houston, Texas; sons Rev John Paul Aymond, Jr. and his wife Lucy of Georgetown, Texas, D. King Aymond, M.D. and his wife Cythiane of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, daughter Fayanne and her husband, Robert L Fountain, Jr., of Evansville, Indiana; granddaughters, Christine and husband David Porter of Spring, Texas, and Cynthiane Aymond of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; grandsons Matthew John Aymond and wife Annie of Houston, Texas and Nicholas David Aymond of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; great grandsons, Zachary David Porter of Spring, Texas and Cole Zholen Aymond of Houston, Texas.

Coming from a family of educators, Genevieve was a natural teacher, be it Sunday School as a teenager, public school in Denver, Colorado, high school math and calculus in Alexandria, Virginia or baking cookies as a grandmother and knitting as a great grandmother. She attended Randolph Macon College in Virginia for one year. Later she transferred to Barnard College in New York, graduating in 1939.

Her marriage to her ensign lasted over 57 years, taking her around the world and country as they raised their 3 children during his 24 plus years in the Navy. Upon retirement from the Navy, John and Genevieve moved to Houston, Texas, where they lived for 20 years. In 1983, they purchased their true retirement home in Richmond, Texas, where they enjoyed the rest of his years on this earth. When their daughter moved to Indiana to be married in 2008, Genevieve decided to continue the adventure in Evansville, Indiana, where she lived out the rest of her life.

Services for Genevieve will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2010 in the chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.


Being that Genevieve was a two time survivor of breast cancer, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation at www.nationalbreastcancer.org.
